Baseball Recap: Round Valley Has No Trouble Against Page

The Round Valley Elks got the win against the Page Sand Devils on Friday by a conclusive 17-6. The result was nothing new for the Elks, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brenton Walker made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camdyn Austin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Jeffery Cochran was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Round Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .517 that Page posted.

The win made it two in a row for Round Valley and bumps their season record up to 13-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Page, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-10.

Round Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-3 win against Benson on the 23rd. As for Page, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 loss against Chinle on the 21st.
