San Jacinto Valley Academy hasn't had much luck against Nuview Bridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the Knights at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
San Jacinto Valley Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 18-run drubbing they dealt Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School on Wednesday. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 25-7 margin over the Mustangs. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.
Sebastian Lopez looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Canon Fletcher was a standout: he got on base in all six of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and five RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayce Paine, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with seven RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
San Jacinto Valley Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Nuview Bridge never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over California Military Institute. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Carson Lagor made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Nuview Bridge is undefeated when Lagor posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, Nuview Bridge got a massive performance out of Johnny Aguiluz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Aguiluz also scored two runs, which is notable because the Knights are undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Isaac Murillo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Nuview Bridge is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for San Jacinto Valley Academy, their record now sits at 16-8.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. San Jacinto Valley Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Nuview Bridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
San Jacinto Valley Academy skirted past Nuview Bridge 5-4 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
