The Stevenson Bulldogs will face off against the Corbett Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Stevenson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.
While Stevenson's victory against Fort Vancouver wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Trappers 8-6. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Trappers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jewel Waymire spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rebecca Townsend, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaycee Norris, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Corbett made sure to put some runs up on the board against Portland Adventist Academy on Tuesday. The Cardinals blew past the Cougars 14-3.
Corbett got a massive performance out of Bella Austinson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That home run was Austinson's first of the season. Lilly Schimel was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
The win got Corbett back to even at 2-2. As for Stevenson, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Corbett's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Stevenson has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Corbett, though, as they've been averaging 14.5 hits. Given Stevenson's sizable advantage in that area, the Cardinals will need to find a way to close that gap.
Stevenson took their win against Corbett when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 26-16 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
