Division III recap Oct. 9, 2012
Narragansett was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in Division III. The Mariners beat Ponaganset 23-14 earlier in the week.
Middletown extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Tiverton, 48-20. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Islanders.
Andrew Miner and Carney Crawford gave East Greenwich a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Miner threw for 118 yards and three touchdowns, while Crawford ran for 241 yards. Alex Cleary also contributed to the rushing game with 17 yards on the ground.
Sebastian Ferrell was the best wideout in the league this week as Moses Brown fell to the Avengers. Ferrell tallied five receptions for 74 yards. Nick Liguori helped Moses Brown's passing attack out by catching two balls for 19 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Griffin Clark of Classical is the league leader in passing yards this season with 511. He has also thrown one touchdown. On the ground, East Greenwich's Crawford has rushed for 714 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ferrell. The Moses Brown star has 11 catches for 257 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Quakers take on the Purples. At the moment, Moses Brown is in third, while Classical is in fourth.
Middletown led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on the Tigers.
