The Wyoming Wolves will take on the Otsego Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Wyoming's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Union 18-0. With that victory, the Wolves brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.
Blen Brookhouse made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brookhouse was also big at the plate, earning three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.
In other batting news, Kellsie Dieterle was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of LaNieva Rayborn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Wyoming hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
While Otsego didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Sturgis with a sharp 11-0 win on Tuesday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Cassie Holland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Holland was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Otsego got a massive performance out of Audrey Lingbeek, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sophia Pierce, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Otsego and bumps their season record up to 7-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Wyoming, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
