Columbus International is 1-9 against Whetstone since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Columbus International Lions will be home for the holidays to greet the Whetstone Braves at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Columbus International focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday.
Even though Columbus International has not done well against Linden-McKinley recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Columbus International managed a 52-47 victory over Linden-McKinley. 52 seems to be a good number for Columbus International as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Columbus International found their leader in underclassman Leila Carter, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Carter has scored at least 25% of Columbus International's points. Another player making a difference was Annazai Ingram-cross, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Whetstone, who are still winless after their fifth match. They were beaten by Centennial 74-22 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Whetstone can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 779th, while Centennial is ranked 227th).
Columbus International's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-3. As for Whetstone, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
Columbus International came up short against Whetstone in their previous matchup back in January, falling 45-37. Can Columbus International avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
