The Hidden Valley Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Blacksburg Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hidden Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 62-20, which was the final score in Hidden Valley's tilt against Christiansburg on Friday. Hidden Valley gained 248 more yards on the day, but it was Christiansburg that made the best of use of them.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Israel Guerrero, who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Blacksburg's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 69-13 loss at the hands of Pulaski County. While losing is never fun, Blacksburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Pulaski County is ranked 129th).
Blacksburg's defeat came about despite a quality game from Luke Poff, who picked up 192 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Poff's longest reception was for an incredible 83 yards.
Hidden Valley's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-2 Glenvar (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.5% over those games). As for Blacksburg, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Everything went Hidden Valley's way against Blacksburg when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as Hidden Valley made off with a 28-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hidden Valley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
