After a string of three wins, the Lassiter Trojans's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Walton. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lassiter in their matchups with Walton: they've now lost five in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Lassiter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kenzie Wyman. Despite the final result, she scored 26 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Wyman also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Claire Mackenny was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Lassiter's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Walton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.
Lassiter and Sprayberry will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Walton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cherokee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cherokee knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Walton likes a good challenge.
