Licking Valley is 2-8 against Licking Heights since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Licking Valley Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Licking Heights Hornets at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Licking Valley was fully in charge, breezing past Newark Catholic 62-31 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Licking Valley.
Licking Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aj Rapol led the charge by scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rapol has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunner Bowman, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Licking Heights entered their tilt with Lakewood with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Licking Heights blew past Lakewood, posting a 59-28 victory at home.
Licking Valley's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points per game. As for Licking Heights, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Licking Valley suffered a grim 68-42 defeat to Licking Heights in their previous meeting back in January. Can Licking Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
