After each having a week off, the Turner County Titans and the Mitchell County Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Turner County ended up a good deal behind Tiftarea Academy and lost 34-20.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jaden King, who threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns. 85 of those passing yards were hauled in by Octavius Terry.
Meanwhile, Mitchell County was able to grind out a solid win over Dooly County last Friday, taking the game 30-20.
Jonathan Isom was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 99 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes, and also rushed for 46 yards. Another player making a difference was Nicolas Williams, who rushed for 116 yards.
Turner County's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mitchell County, their record is now 2-0.
Turner County took a serious blow against Mitchell County in their previous meeting back in November of 2019, falling 36-7. Thankfully for Turner County, James Thomas (who rushed for 246 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 49 yards and a touchdown on only four passes) won't be suiting up this time.
