After four games on the road, Elm Creek is heading back home. They will take on Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
While it was all tied up 23-23 at halftime, Elm Creek was not quite Amherst's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 64-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elm Creek in their matchups with Amherst: they've now lost seven in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Quin Oberg, who scored 21 points along with two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Nikk Brumels was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood], but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-44 loss to South Loup on Friday.
Elm Creek's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood], they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
Elm Creek strolled past Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 71-57. Does Elm Creek have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
