The Franklin Academy Panthers managed to keep up with the Pine Crest Panthers until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Franklin Academy was beaten by Pine Crest 82-42. Franklin Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Franklin Academy saw an underclassman step up: Robert Guishard dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Guishard scored a full 35.7% of Franklin Academy's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Trent Davis was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 3 blocks.
Pine Crest's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rowan Hoffman, who scored 24 points. The contest was Hoffman's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Wigoda, who scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds.
Franklin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pine Crest, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin Academy will take on International Studies at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pine Crest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Coconut Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
