Softball Recap: Pettisville Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Pettisville barely beat Stryker the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blackbirds were the clear victors by a 24-3 margin over the Panthers on Tuesday. The Blackbirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by nine runs or more this season.

Macy Hoylman was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Pettisville got a massive performance out of Naomi Richer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave Richer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Bennett, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Pettisville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory (which was Pettisville's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Stryker, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Pettisville will challenge Edon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blackbirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bombers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Stryker, they will face off against Holgate at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
