The Fayette Ware Wildcats entered their tilt with the Bolton Wildcats with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. Fayette Ware took down the Wildcats 67-53 on Friday. Given Fayette Ware's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Wildcats are ranked 197th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fayette Ware got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tarecous Stevens out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Stevens hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Eric Jones, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
E'derian Washington and Kylan Collins certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Washington scored 21 points, while Collins scored 13 points along with five assists and two steals. Rahsad MacLin was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Fayette Ware's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points per game. As for Bolton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
Coincidentally, Fayette Ware and the Wildcats will both be playing the Tigers the next time they take the court. Bolton will head out to face Bolivar Central at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Fayette Ware will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
