Jeremiah Kavanah made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Matty Sinnicki was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Ethan Martin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Geneva always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, First Academy won against City of Life Christian Academy on Thursday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. First Academy beat Real Life Christian Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 18-5. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Raptors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Like Geneva, First Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Caiden Wilcox. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wilcox was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, First Academy got a massive performance out of Collin Herrell, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cody Rojas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Geneva's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for First Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Geneva has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. However, it's not like First Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .609. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Geneva might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from First Academy when the teams last played back in February. Will Geneva have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
