The Flat Rock Rams will face off against the Roosevelt Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Flat Rock is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Flat Rock will bounce into Friday's match after beating Huron, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Chiefs 3-1. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly two runs.
Jayden Yancy looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Flat Rock's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Godfrey, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Woodhaven.
The team relied heavily on Luke Hurliman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Peyton Webster, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Roosevelt hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodhaven struck out ten times.
Flat Rock pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Flat Rock has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Roosevelt struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Flat Rock skirted past Roosevelt 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
