Richland (Johnstown, Pa.) snapped
Tyrone (Pa.)'s 4-game winning streak, with a 43-22 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Matt Shaffer touchdown run in the first quarter, the Rams led 24-7 at the half.
Richland expanded its lead to 23 points entering the fourth quarter. RHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Shaffer.
Shaffer and
Tanner Solarczyk ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Golden Eagles. Shaffer scored two touchdowns on the ground and Solarczyk added two as well.
Shaffer played well for the Johnstown school in the victory. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
Tyrone's
Erik Wagner played well. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
THS came in surrendering 12.5 points per game this season. The Golden Eagles struggled against the Rams' offense, which entered the game scoring 36.3 points per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which Tyrone took, 46-21.
The loss comes after Tyrone defeated Cambria Heights 14-7 last week.
