The Freeport Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Baker Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Freeport made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Rutherford, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went Freeport's way against Rutherford on Monday as Freeport made off with a 12-2 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on Ryan Darrow, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Wade Digges, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Freeport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Baker). They put the hurt on Laurel Hill with a sharp 26-9 victory on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Gators sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Ty Fernandez made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Fernandez was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Maddox Smith was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to hits, as he's now got three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Wyatt Straight also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Freeport pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Baker, their record now sits at 4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Freeport has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Baker struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Freeport took their victory against Baker in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 9-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Freeport since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
