Southeast Yosemite recap September 24, 2013
Tehachapi moved up to 302 from 383 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Southeast Yosemite. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Arvin 51-7.
East Bakersfield lost to South 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Josh Carillo was a bright spot for the Blades, as he ran for 31 yards in the defeat.
Dominic Frasch was the best receiver in the league this week as Garces bested San Joaquin Memorial. Frasch racked up 4 receptions for 50 yards. Jack Lundy helped Garces' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.
Sheldon Croney was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 173 yards on 32 carries as the Rams beat the Panthers. Jake Pavletich also contributed to the rushing game with 90 yards on the ground.
Antonio Martinez was a key player and the best on defense this week as East Bakersfield lost to the Rebels. The 5-foot-10 junior.
Pavletich provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Garces topped San Joaquin Memorial.
Steven Twiss put up the best numbers in passing as North lost to Delano. He had a total of 13 completions for 85 yards. Twiss' favorite target this week was Kyle Hood, who caught 2 passes for 22 yards.
Garces' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rams feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Pavletich has thrown for 374 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while Frasch has 7 catches for 163 yards.
Jim Maples' team and Anthony Goston's team played the closest game in Southeast Yosemite this week, with Jim Maples' team eventually emerging with a 20-14 victory. Croney caught 1 pass for 13 yards in the win.
