Meanwhile, Park Vista entered their tilt with South Fork on Thursday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Cobras, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Like Stoneman Douglas, Park Vista also got a great game from a two-way player: Angeline Mergen. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Mergen was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Hannah Durante and Savanna Latone did most of the damage at the plate: Durante went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Latone scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Isabella Golas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Park Vista's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Stoneman Douglas, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
