St. Pius X is 0-5 against Prestonwood Christian since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on November 17th. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. St. Pius X is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for St. Pius X at home against Central Catholic as the squad secured a 41-7 victory. The win was just what St. Pius X needed coming off of a 42-21 loss in their prior game.
St. Pius X's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braxton Bies led the charge by throwing for 135 yards and five touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Joshua Mitchell and his 151 yards on the ground were also a key factor in St. Pius X's win.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Prestonwood Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Parish Episcopal. Prestonwood Christian has struggled against Parish Episcopal recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tag O'Neal, who picked up 212 receiving yards and three touchdowns. O'Neal was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Tasby, who threw for 358 yards and four touchdowns.
St. Pius X's victory bumped their season record to 5-5 while Prestonwood Christian's defeat dropped theirs to 6-3.
St. Pius X was dealt a bruising 49-0 loss at the hands of Prestonwood Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Can St. Pius X avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
