Basketball Recap: Roanoke Rapids Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Northern Nash came into Friday's game looking for another win against Roanoke Rapids, but Shaniah Daniels wouldn't allow it. The Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets rang in the new year with a 38-30 victory over the Northern Nash Knights on Friday thanks in part to Daniels, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season.

Sofie Wade was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four).

Roanoke Rapids moved to 5-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Northern Nash, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Roanoke Rapids will face off against Rocky Mount at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rocky Mount will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Roanoke Rapids surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northern Nash, they will challenge Nash Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
