The Air Academy Kadets will head out on the road to square off against the Discovery Canyon Thunder at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Air Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
Air Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2023 on Thursday. They suffered a tough 85-61 loss at the hands of Lutheran. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Air Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Noah Hellem, who scored 25 points, and Max Howery who scored 15 points along with seven assists and four steals. That was a full 41% of Air Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Brennan, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, even though Lewis-Palmer scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, Discovery Canyon still came out on top. Discovery Canyon took their contest against Lewis-Palmer 66-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Discovery Canyon.
Air Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Discovery Canyon, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Air Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Discovery Canyon when the teams last played last Wednesday, winning 58-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Air Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
