Bethel Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a rough 56-36 defeat at the hands of Butte Valley. The match was a close 25-24 at the break, but unfortunately for Bethel Christian it sure didn't stay that way.
Bethel Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braden Johnson, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rad Schenkenberger, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and four blocks.
It was another big night for Ethan Burrow, who shot 7-for-10 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds for Butte Valley. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burrow has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Cynor, who scored four points along with eight assists and two steals.
Bethel Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Butte Valley, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-7.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Happy Camp the next time they take the court. Butte Valley will head out to face Happy Camp at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while Bethel Christian will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
