Westfield has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Holyoke Purple Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to 49 points the game before, Westfield were a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They were dealt a 44-7 defeat at the hands of Central. While losing is never fun, Westfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Central is ranked fourth).
Westfield's loss came about despite a quality game from Lucas Guay, who rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown. Guay was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards.
Meanwhile, Holyoke took a serious blow against Minnechaug Regional on Thursday, falling 56-6.
Having lost for the first time this season, Westfield fell to 5-1. As for Holyoke, their loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-5.
Everything came up roses for Westfield against Holyoke in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as the team secured a 53-22 win. Does Westfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Holyoke turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
