Even though the Grand Junction Central Warriors have not done well against the Montrose Red Hawks recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Grand Junction Central came out on top against Montrose by a score of 43-31. The victory was all the more spectacular given Grand Junction Central's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Montrose is ranked 21st).
Grand Junction Central had a senior duo take command as Camren Redding scored 15 points along with five assists and Ryland Nostrand scored ten points along with seven rebounds. The game was Redding's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Amos, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Grand Junction Central now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Montrose, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grand Junction Central will face off against Glenwood Springs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Montrose's road trip will continue as they head out to face Palisade at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Palisade is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
