If The Immaculata Spartans were riding high off their 41-8 takedown of the St. John-Vianney Lancers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Immaculata fell just short of Holy Spirit by a score of 36-33. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the loss, Immaculata still got an impressive performance from Mason Geis, who threw for 295 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. Owen Blum was in the mix as well, providing Immaculata with two touchdowns.
Immaculata's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Holy Spirit, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Immaculata will head out on the road to face off against Holy Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Cross will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Immaculata is ranked 64th). As for Holy Spirit, they will take on Red Bank Catholic at TBD on Friday. Red Bank Catholic is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
