Sterlington faced Quitman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Sterlington never let Quitman get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Sterlington's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Quitman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-5 record this season.

Sterlington will square off against Jena at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sterlington 3.6, Jena 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Quitman, they have already played their next game, a 17-7 victory against Ouachita Christian on the 30th.
