The Boonville Pioneers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 56-36 loss at the hands of Evansville Reitz. While losing is never fun, Boonville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Evansville Reitz is ranked 129th).
Evansville Reitz found their leader in underclassman Jaylan Mitchell, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Ke' Pace, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Boonville's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-10. As for Evansville Reitz, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.
Boonville will take on Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Evansville Reitz will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Christian County at 5:45 p.m. on January 13th. Christian County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
