The Canterbury Crusaders can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Southeast by a score of 53-42. For Canterbury, this counts as revenge for the 46-27 defeat Southeast walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
It was another big night for Zy'nasia Alhuzaifi, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Canterbury's points. Another player making a difference was Ja'maria Long, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Several Seminoles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Azharia Jones, who scored 12 points. Gabriela Morales was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Canterbury's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Southeast, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canterbury will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lakeside Christian at 4:00 p.m. on January 10th. Lakeside Christian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Southeast will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Palmetto at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Palmetto presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southeast in Florida (Palmetto is ranked 245th, while Southeast is ranked 561st).
