The Burlingame Panthers lost against the Carlmont Scots on January 10th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Burlingame took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carlmont. While losing is never fun, Burlingame can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while Carlmont is ranked 159th).
Burlingame's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Marcus Tapia, who scored 17 points, and Alain Kazarian who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Kazarian pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Burlingame struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Burlingame and nudges their season record down to 10-10. As for Carlmont, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burlingame's road trip will continue as they head out to face Menlo-Atherton at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Carlmont, they will challenge Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
