Trion is 0-5 against Darlington since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Trion Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Darlington Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Trion put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Armuchee for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-7 win on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-0.
Trion's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kade Smith, who threw for 159 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes, and Toby Maddux, who rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Willingham, who picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after only ten points in their last game, Darlington made sure to put some points up on the board against Armuchee two weeks ago. Darlington blew past Armuchee, posting a 49-7 win at home. Darlington pushed the score to 49-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Armuchee cut but never quite recovered from.
Trion's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.0 points per game. As for Darlington, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Trion was taken down by Darlington 44-13 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Will Trion have more luck at home instead of on the road?
