The Tabb Tigers will face off against the York Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tabb is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Tabb is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Smithfield just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Friday. They fell 8-3 to the Packers.
Tabb saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Garcia, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Garcia also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask York). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Lafayette a 19-0 shutout last Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Falcons with their most commanding win of the season.
Tahlia Evans and Bri Petrolia made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Evans pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Petrolia tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Evans scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Petrolia got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Kenlee Washington was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Leah Hunter, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
York kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Tabb's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for York, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Tabb hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like York struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
