If the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes were riding high off their 82-34 takedown of the Hot Springs Tigers last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Pojoaque Valley fell to Hope Christian 40-34. Pojoaque Valley lost against Hope Christian in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 66-24 score last time.
Several Elks/Elkettes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jasmine Valdez, who scored eight points along with two steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Monique Arrietta, who scored eight points.
Pojoaque Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Hope Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pojoaque Valley will take on Grants at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hope Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hot Springs at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
