Boulder has gone a perfect 3-0 against Northglenn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will square off against the Norsemen at 7:00 p.m. Boulder is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Boulder took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Mountain Range with a sharp 13-3 win. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Finn Torvik made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Boulder let Toby Schoenfeld and Miles Love run wild. Schoenfeld scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Love scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Schoenfeld a new career-high in RBI (two). Chance Gauss also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Boulder was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Northglenn fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Westminster on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 5-4. The Norsemen's defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Hunter Campbell made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Mikey Rivera was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Boulder's victory ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Northglenn, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Boulder has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northglenn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Boulder took their win against Northglenn in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
