The Chico Panthers will challenge the Las Plumas Thunderbirds at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Chico is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Chico is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Pleasant Valley 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

McKena Harvey was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases.
Harvey wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Camile Murphy, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Las Plumas hadn't done well against Pleasant Valley recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Thunderbirds walked away with a 5-0 win over the Vikings.
The result came thanks to Kyler Storey's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Atteberry, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Rylie McInturf was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Chico's record is now 24-6. As for Las Plumas, their record now sits at 27-1-1.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chico hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335.
