Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Lake Country Lutheran's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Lake Country Lutheran won against Luther Prep on Thursday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Lightning put the hurt on the Altoona Railroaders with a sharp 12-6 win. The Lightning might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Jackson Menzel was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jack Poellot was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lake Country Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Altoona, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Country Lutheran will face off against University School of Milwaukee at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Altoona, they will take on Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Hawks will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Railroaders surely won't give up without a fight.
