The Beach Bulldogs fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Long County Blue Tide on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Tide by a score of 55-52. Beach has not had much luck with Long County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Beach saw an underclassman step up: Mariah Reid scored 24 points along with four steals. That was a full 46.2% of Beach's points, marking the 20th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ashley Jones was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Beach's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Long County, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.
Beach will be playing in front of their home fans against Savannah Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Beach has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Long County, they will head out on the road to square off against Liberty County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Liberty County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Tuesday.
