Softball Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Norton

Norton waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Medway Mustangs as they made off with a 10-4 win. Considering the Lancers have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Liana Danubio made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Paige Donahue was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Leah Worthley, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Norton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive games.

Norton's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Medway, they moved to 9-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Norton has already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Abington on the 15th. As for Medway, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-11 defeat against North Attleborough on the 15th.
