Basketball Recap: Lake Norman Christian Takes a Loss

If Lake Norman Christian was feeling good fresh off their 78-49 takedown of Carvers Bay last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lake Norman Christian Lions opened the new year with a less-than-successful 100-87 defeat to the Cannon Cougars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (78), the Lions still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Norman Christian lost on Friday, don't look at Kobe Broome. Despite the final result, he went 11 of 17 on his way to 26 points and five steals. Those 26 points gave Broome a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Todd, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Leading Cannon to victory were Evan Ingram and Sean Nix. Ingram went 14 of 20 on his way to 35 points and seven rebounds, while Nix almost dropped a double-double on 33 points and nine boards. Ingram's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kenan Dixon, who posted 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Lake Norman Christian's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Cannon, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Lake Norman Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-62 victory against Charlotte Elite Academy on the 6th. As for Cannon, they will head out to square off against Charlotte Latin at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. One thing working in Cannon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
