Estacado and Snyder are an even 3-3-4 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Estacado Matadors will head out on the road to take on the Snyder Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Estacado will be strutting in after a win while Snyder will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Tuesday, Estacado kept a clean sheet against Sweetwater. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with a 3-0 win. The result kept Estacado happy, as they haven't lost a game since January 12th.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Tamaya Thomas and
Madie Garcia, who scored all three of Estacado's goals. The pair have combined for a total of five so far this season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to ten goals the game before, Snyder were a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 3-0 walloping at the hands of Greenwood. Reagan Williams was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on her (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.
Estacado is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4-2 record this season. As for Snyder, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5-2.
Estacado skirted past Snyder 1-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Estacado since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
