Potomac School is 8-2 against Flint Hill since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will take on the Huskies at 4:30 p.m. Potomac School is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Potomac School can't be too worried about heading out to take on Flint Hill: they just beat Sidwell Friends at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Panthers skirted past the Quakers 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since May 9, 2024.
Colby Bohnen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Potomac School's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Christian Lam, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double. Ian Parrish also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Flint Hill had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Saints a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Zach Rachinsky was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of PJ Lyons, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Potomac School has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Flint Hill, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Potomac School has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Flint Hill struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Potomac School beat Flint Hill 5-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
