Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Fairview's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Fairview barely beat Hanceville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Aggies were the clear victors by a 14-8 margin over the Bulldogs on Tuesday. The Aggies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Ayda Payne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addison Phillips and Ava Pruett did most of the damage at the plate: Phillips scored two runs while going 3-for-5, while Pruett went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The dominant performance also gave Phillips a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Barnett, who scored three runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Fairview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Fairview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Hanceville, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-14-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairview will venture away from home to challenge Scottsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hanceville, they will head out to take on Vinemont at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
