There's no place like home for the Southwestern Randolph Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Wheatmore 51-24 at home. That looming 51-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Southwestern Randolph yet this season.
Southwestern Randolph's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marcus Robertson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Josh Adkins, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Wheatmore saw an underclassman step up: Robert Nyamongo scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Weston Driggers was another key contributor, scoring two points along with four blocks.
Southwestern Randolph's victory bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Wheatmore, they are on a 21-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Uwharrie Charter the next time they take the court. Wheatmore will host Uwharrie Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Southwestern Randolph will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
