The Jackson Day Mariners entered their tilt with the Lee Park Prep Knights with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Jackson Day came out on top against Lee Park Prep by a score of 51-43 on Friday. This was payback for Jackson Day, who suffered a 49-46 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Viviana Nigro, who scored 18 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Nigro has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Thomas, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Jackson Day pushed their record up to 17-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Lee Park Prep, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson Day will face off against Gray Stone Day at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lee Park Prep will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jackson Day at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
