Basketball Recap: Matthew Lawrence's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Clear Lake over Clear Falls

Clear Lake lost against Clear Falls back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Clear Lake Falcons fell 66-58 to the Clear Falls Knights. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), the Falcons still had to take the loss.

Clear Lake's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Lawrence, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. That's the most boards Lawrence has posted since back in December of 2024. Tanner Pyle was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points.

Clear Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Clear Falls, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-9.

Clear Lake and Clear Falls should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Clear Lake (ranked 261st) will meet Brazoswood (ranked 727th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Clear Falls (ranked 193rd) will meet Deer Park (ranked 477th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
