The Coolidge Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Globe Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Coolidge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Coolidge barely beat Apache Junction the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Prospectors on Tuesday. While the Bears didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Terry Churchwell looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ruben Baca, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Hamilton, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Coolidge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2025.
Valley Christian hit Globe with a eight-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers lost 15-3 to the Trojans. The Tigers have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Globe saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaeger Franco, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
The victory made it two in a row for Coolidge and bumps their season record up to 8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Globe, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Coolidge has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Globe struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Coolidge came out on top in a nail-biter against Globe in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
