Baseball Recap: Punxsutawney Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Punxsutawney won the last time they faced Brookville and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Chucks blew past the Raiders 13-1. Considering the Chucks have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Parker Stahlman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stahlman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Silverstein, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Nevin Day was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Punxsutawney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brookville only posted a batting average of .118.

Punxsutawney is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Brookville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.

Coming up, Punxsutawney will be playing at home against Central Mountain at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Chucks have won four straight at home dating back to last season, while the Wildcats won eight straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Brookville, they will challenge Moniteau on Friday.
