The La Villa Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Weimar Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as La Villa comes in on eight and Weimar on five.
La Villa had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Three Rivers 26-24.
La Villa relied on the efforts of Rey Perez, who gained 148 total yards and three touchdowns, and Brandon Felix, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Felix was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.
Meanwhile, Weimar stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past Junction 55-0 at home. Weimar pushed the score to 41-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Junction had no chance of recovering from.
La Villa's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.5 points per game. As for Weimar, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
