The Southwest Florida Christian King will head out on the road to take on the Bishop Verot Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Southwest Florida Christian comes in on four and Bishop Verot on eight.
Last Friday, Southwest Florida Christian narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past LaBelle 3-2.
Southwest Florida Christian got a great performance from Ian Long as he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). What's more, Long gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Lawson Polhill was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Reed Guess also deserves some recognition as he stole his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Verot). They blew past Wesley Chapel 10-2 on Saturday. Considering the Vikings have won three games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Tyler Reeder tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Rardin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Chalder, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Bishop Verot kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wesley Chapel only managed three hits.
Bishop Verot pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Southwest Florida Christian, their record now sits at 6-3.
Southwest Florida Christian suffered a grim 10-3 defeat to Bishop Verot in their previous matchup back in February of 2021. Can Southwest Florida Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
